Campus Computing can assist and train you with the operation of the classroom podium and its various functions. From showing a DVD or VHS, to operating the Elmo (Doc Cam Overhead) or PC, Campus Computing provides support for all your classroom technology needs.
Campus Computing can assist with coordinating the network connections needed to make a successful video conference experience. We can provide a test call to the offsite far end prior to your event to make sure that everything will go as smoothly as possible. The day of the event we facilitate the call to or from the far end and check audio settings, display settings, and sending of content functionality. Distance Education at USF Sarasota-Manatee may also be able to provide an in session tech to assist in the live operation. The live tech will adjust controls of audio and video in real time as the event progresses providing instant ongoing support so as to not hinder your presentations.
Each podium is equipped with an electronic help button designed to send a distress call to our on duty support techs. When a classroom problem arises there is no need to use you cell phone or to leave class and walk aimlessly looking for an AV/PC technician for support. Just press the help button conveniently located on the podium and within a short time you will have a support technician at your service to alleviate any equipment problems that may arise.
Classroom PC freezing up? Having trouble logging in? Or loading a file from a memory disk to the classroom computer? Campus Computing can be there within moments to assist you in remedying the problem. Just use the On-Demand help button to have a tech arrive to get you class or event back on track.
USF Sarasota-Manatee has three wireless computer labs on campus and requires a tech to unlock the carts for access to the laptops. Campus Computing facilitates the access and maintains the security of the mobile laptop carts. To have your cart open and ready before your event starts please submit a work order via your office manager or event coordinator.
Have a focus group or special event in class. You can request that we capture the event to a digital file. An AV tech can set up a camera and facilitate the recording of your event and arrive later to break down the equipment to later digitize the film captured. After digitizing, Campus Computing offers basic editing and can event store the event on USF servers which you can access via a web link from most any computer.
Can't get your Laptop or DVD to show up on the projector screen? Campus Computing provides support and training with the operation of the overhead projector that is found in each classroom.
The techs at Campus Computing not only provide various support functions for the setup and operation of AV and classroom technologies, but make every effort to prevent problems before they actually occur. Before each semester we clean, adjust and fix any potential problem occurring issues with the classroom lecterns and projectors. We log bulb hours, clean filters, adjust monitor arms just to name a few off the semester prepare check list we use three times a year. We thoroughly test the functionality of each button on the in-class touch screen control and log into the classroom podium devices to read error logs and address any potential future issues.
Campus Computing can assist you setting up test calls making the call connection at event time to ensure you get connected to the correct meeting. We also provide the front line to documenting any problems that arise during a telepresence call and report such issues to the main USF campus in Tampa.

Whether you just need one microphone or a complete AV setup, the Campus Computing techs will facilitate the setup of your auditorium technology needs. We support the setup and initial operation of wired and wireless microphones, In-house video capture, projector operation and display and basic file setup to the podium pc for your presentation. Campus Computing can capture your requested event with standard camera/av cart setup or via the in-house system in the auditorium. In the auditorium we provide basic production via the 3 in-house cameras and VGA capture of the podium computer. Outside the auditorium we provide and facilitate the setup of a fixed camera start the recording process at the beginning of your event and return at the end to stop the recording of such. After capture we provide the digitizing and basic editing of the filmed event to be placed on disk or server for playback. Please keep in mind the editing is very basic and is of rudimentary quality.
